Live Music in Leeds
The common musical misconception is that Leeds lags behind Manchester and Liverpool when it comes to producing iconic British bands but to misquote a rather respected 'dude;'
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, their opinion, man."
Leeds' music scene is positively electric. Of course, a wide number of notable artists have their roots in Yorkshire. From electronic forerunners Soft Cell to chart favourites Kaiser Chiefs. Indie and alternative rockers, The Pigeon Detectives, The Music and Pulled Apart by Horses all called Leeds home, as does the superb Grammy Award winning singer, Corinne Bailey Rae.
It's perhaps the bubbling underground music scene, which really sets Leeds in the same company as other influential, musical cities. Leeds is brimming with passionate fans packing into some of the greatest music venues including the University's Union, magnet for undiscovered treasures, The Cockpit and the gothic marvel, Leeds O2 Academy, an abundance of authentic, unrelenting and un-hindered great music permeates Leeds' city streets.
